Lunaria annua - The annual honesty
This plant only flowers in its second year. For it’s first year, it grows low to the ground, conserving energy, and when it has enough energy stored up it grows a tall stem and flowers.
Later in the year, the flowers give way to flat translucent seed pods, clearly revealing the seeds within. These delicate discs are the source of its common name. A plant that reveals what is held within.
Drawn with biro during the spring of 2026.
