Pentaglottis sempervirens - The green alkanet
Since I first noticed this plant and took some time to learn about it, I’ve been seeing it everywhere. I first noticed it standing tall against a brick wall in a scruffy part of town. The blue flowers caught my eye and drew me in.
Each individual flower lasts only a short time, but the plant can bloom for months, offering a steady source of nectar for bees and other insects moving through the city.
Drawn with biro and painted with Indian ink during the spring of 2026.
