Stellaria media - Chickweed

I found this one growing in Victoria park, deep amongst some tall grass in the undergrowth of a tall chestnut tree.

Though modest in appearance, chickweed plays a quiet ecological role. Its seeds are eaten by finches and sparrows, while its flowers provide food for small flies, bees and other insects when little else is available.

Drawn with biro during the spring of 2026.
